The Dorsoduro Museum Mile

The Dorsoduro Museum Mile

The Gallerie dell’Accademia, the Palazzo Cini Gallery, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Punta della Dogana will unveil in Venice the “Dorsoduro Museum Mile“, a new cultural itinerary for visitors to the city.

The Dorsoduro Museum Mile is a fascinating itinerary, rich in art and history, that connects four of the most prestigious Venetian cultural institutions: the Accademia, the Palazzo Cini Gallery, the Peggy
Guggenheim Collection and Punta della Dogana.
Running between the Grand Canal and the Canal of the Giudecca, the route takes visitors through the sestiere of Dorsoduro for just over a mile and offers the opportunity to explore a thousand years of world
art history: from the masterpieces of Mediaeval and Renaissance Venetian painting in the Accademia to works by leading contemporary artists on show at Punta della Dogana and, in between, the two fascinating house-museums of Vittorio Cini and Peggy Guggenheim that host their respective marvellous collections as well as temporary exhibitions.

The Gallerie dell’Accademia, the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the François Pinault Foundation thus intend to jointly promote the respective venues and to showcase their
area. The Dorsoduro Museum Mile accompanies visitors around the city’s incredibly rich cultural offering. The itinerary transforms a stroll along canals and through charming streets, squares and alleys into a
wonderful cultural experience.

The Dorsoduro Museum Mile project was made possible by the support of Assicurazioni Generali, which has a longstanding association with the city of Venice and whose mission is to care for cultural heritage.
