Editrice Antenore has just issued the volume I Trovatori nel Veneto e a Venezia, edited by Giosuè Lachin, with a foreword by Francesco Zambon. The volume features the proceedings of an international conference that took place in Venice on October 28-31, 2004, dedicated to the diffusion of Troubadour poetry in Italy at the end of 12th century, and in Veneto at the beginning of 13th century. This was a crucial phenomenon for two main reasons: on one side, Troubadour poetry soon spread in the Northern Peninsula, giving birth to Italian lyric tradition. On the other side, the Langue d'oc favoured the compilation of most Provencal canzonieri, the anthological manuscripts where all Troubadour poems were collected.
