Venice and the East Library

The libraries specialised on the relatioship between Venice and the East and Venice and Europe feature rare periodicals, a prestigious microfilm archive (including the reproduction of the last Chinese Imperial Library) and the whole Daniélou library, which was donated in 1971, an extraordinary archive of Indian culture and music in particular.
There are also important libraries containing books and periodicals on the relationship among Venice and the Greek-Byzanthine and Islamic civilisation (Turkish and Arabic).
Many of the periodicals belonging to these libraries are unique in the city of Venice, not only due to the peculiar nature of their subject, but also because they integrate other Venetian libraries archives.
The Venice and the East library contains over 34,000 volumes and approximately 300 periodicals.
