The seminar is part of the major exhibition dedicated to Giacomo Casanova and curated by the Institute of Art History, through research and the study of scores and other musical material, hinting at the possible common acquaintances in Paris of Giacomo Casanova and Joseph Boulogne. Although twenty years his junior, Boulogne shared several biographical traits with the famous Venetian: a frequenter of high society, a legendary seducer, a violinist, and later also a political agent and freemason. Boulogne’s work will in fact be put into perspective along with his political activities.
The main lecturer will be Théotime Langlois de Swarte, a young star of baroque violin in European and around the world; assisting him in the symphony repertoire will be the Director of the Seminars himself, Pedro Memelsdorff.
