Tanjore
The dancer, choreographer, musician and compositor Raghunath Manet reveals us a repertory dating back to the Taj Mahal age, based on sumptuous dances and lyric compositions. Raghunath recreates and updates the art of sacred dance which used to fascinate the Moghul kings. After his applauded show in Lion, with the saxophonist Archie Shepp, Raghunath will perform once again in Venice, with the show “Tanjore”, already presented at the Festival d’Avignon.
Native of Pondichéry, Raghunath Manet is considered one of the most talented Indian artist of the world. He interprets Bharata Natyam, a dance originated in the temples of southern Indian over 3,000 years ago and he is considered one of the best interpreter of the new generation of the veena.
