The book launch series dedicated to the latest Fondazione Giorgio Cini publications resumes
\nthis autumn.
\nThe first date, 23 September<\/strong>, is dedicated to books published to mark the third centenary\u00a0of the birth of Giammaria Ortes<\/strong> (Venice, 1713-1790), who was commemorated last year in\u00a0various events organised by a special committee promoted by the Veneto Region and based\u00a0in the Fondazione Giorgio Cini. ese works start from and further previous studies on the\u00a0remarkable Camaldolese monk, who later became a lay priest as well as being a philosopher,\u00a0mathematician, economist and composer. <\/p>\n

The presentation will be made by Marcello Verga<\/strong>\u00a0and Gilberto Pizzamiglio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The second meeting, on 30 September<\/strong>, focuses on Gli affreschi nelle ville venete. L\u2019Ottocento<\/strong><\/em>,
\nedited by Sergio Marinelli and Vincenzo Mancini and published by Marsilio. e result of
\nlong-standing collaboration between the Istituto Regionale Ville Venete and the Fondazione
\nGiorgio Cini Institute of Art History, this volume deals with 19th-century fresco decorations
\nin villas in northeast Italy; it will be presented by Fernando Mazzocca<\/strong> and Paola Marini<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The last date, 7 October<\/strong>, will be devoted to four new volumes in the series entitled \u201cThe National<\/strong>
\nEdition of the Works of Andrea Gabrieli<\/strong>\u201d, produced by the Fondazione Giorgio Cini
\nInstitute of Music in collaboration with the publishers Casa Ricordi. These anthological collections
\nof four, ve and six-part madrigals, were composed over a period of almost a quarter\u00a0of a century (1566-1589). Seen together, they chart the deep changes in Gabrieli\u2019s personal\u00a0literary and musical canon: from his youthful predilection for Petrarch\u2019s lyrics (especially in the\u00a0\u201cFirst Book for Five Voices\u201d), to the irresistible attraction exercised by the modern epigrammatic\u00a0madrigal (found in the later works of the \u201c ird Book for Five Voices\u201d).
