On 3 November 2023, the tenth \u2018Benno Geiger\u2019 Poetry Translation Prize will be awarded at a special ceremony open to the public.
\nThe Prize, which is awarded annually, is named after Benno Geiger (1882\u20131965), an Austrian writer, poet and art critic, author of valuable German translations of several classics of Italian poetry, whose extremely rich literary and artistic correspondence with Italian and European correspondents
\nof the early twentieth century is part of the literary fonds housed at San Giorgio.
\nThe jury is composed of writers, critics, university lecturers and translation experts: Franco Buffoni, Alessandro Niero, Pietro Taravacci, Sne\u017eana Milinkovi\u0107 and Elena Agazzi. Francesco Zambon chairs the jury.
\nAt the opening of the award ceremony, one of the members of the Jury will give a talk on a theme concerning poetic translation.
\nThe jury will award the winner a prize of \u20ac4,000 and will confer a second prize of \u20ac1,000 for a young translator or a first work. Finally, a residential scholarship will be awarded, linked to the Prize
