International Conference, Venice, Fondazione Giorgio Cini, October 27th \u2013 28th<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Fondazione Giorgio Cini<\/strong> is organizing an international symposium on Giovanni Bellini<\/strong> (c. 1433 \u2013 1516) and Venetian Renaissance painting. Bellini was the greatest fifteenth-century Venetian painter and, according to D\u00fcrer,<\/em> still the \u201cbest\u201d at the turn of the sixteenth century. During his long career, he invented and renewed the technique and style of Venetian painting, and transmitted his results to a large group of students and followers.<\/p>\n

The conference aims to analyze his entire career, not least in relation to the artistic and cultural context, and in particular will encourage further study on the following themes:<\/p>\n

– Bellini and the invention of the altarpiece<\/p>\n

– Bellini and devotional painting<\/p>\n

– Bellini and the classical world<\/p>\n

– Bellini and the landscape<\/p>\n

– Bellini\u2019s heirs and his \u201ccreati\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The conference will be held at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, October 27th \u2013 28th.<\/p>\n

The proceedings will subsequently be published.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

All proposals for papers should include a title and abstract (maximum 300 words), together with contact details and a100-word biography of the speaker.<\/p>\n
