Founded in 1998, the Lettera da San Giorgio is the magazine of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini , created with the aim of narrating and documenting the activities that take place on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, and of enhancing its cultural identity: the expression of a long tradition of study, research, international dialogue and artistic production, which continues to manifest itself through exhibitions, conferences, concerts, performances and publications of extraordinary value.<\/p>\n

The sections of the magazine are divided into several headings: the main Activities organised and promoted by the Foundation’s Institutes and Research Centres, which offer the reader a broad overview of the scientific, cultural and artistic work in progress. Collections: in-depth studies dedicated to the Foundation’s artistic, book and archive heritage. Presences: a space reserved for the great personalities who have frequented the Island of San Giorgio and left their mark. Projects and Research: an overview of current study activities and initiatives in the various disciplines: from art to musicology, from the history of Venice to theatre and melodrama, from Vivaldi’s music to early music, from 20th-century music to non-European music, from the study of comparative civilisations and spiritualities to the use of new technologies for the enhancement of the cultural heritage. Finally, the Editorial News section with the most recent publications published or promoted by the Foundation: essays, catalogues, magazines and special publishing projects resulting from ongoing scientific research.<\/p>\n

The publication is directed by Chiara Casarin.<\/p>\n
