Conceived as a companion to the exhibition<\/a> of the same name, this catalogue explores the enduring significance of tapestry as an artistic language. Organised by the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in collaboration with the Madrid-based studio Factum Arte<\/a>, the exhibition investigates the intersection between historical tradition and contemporary practice in textile art.<\/p>\n

Through scholarly essays and interdisciplinary perspectives, the volume examines how this centuries-old medium continues to provide artists with a powerful tool to reflect on the complexities of the present. The featured works range from a rare fifteenth-century depiction of the Siege of Jerusalem to Azra Ak\u0161amija\u2019s textiles addressing ethnic cleansing in the Balkans, and the contemporary visions of Grayson Perry and Marc Quinn.<\/p>\n
