L\u2019Ottocento<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><strong>Edited by Sergio Marinelli and Vincenzo Mancini<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Marsilio, Venice 2015<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"LEFT\">Continuing the collaboration between Istituto Regionale Ville Venete and the Institute of Art History, this book addresses the subject of 19th-century villa decorations in Northeast Italy, which mainly turned out to be previously unpublished. Far from the decline of the genre, what emerges here is a highly original, independent figurative culture, albeit in a deliberately \u201cminor\u201d atmosphere, as is illustrated by the lavish catalogue of over 300 entries. Here the role in previous centuries <span lang=\"JA\"><span lang=\"JA\">played by triumphant <\/span><\/span><span lang=\"JA\"><span lang=\"JA\">quadrature <\/span><\/span><span lang=\"JA\"><span lang=\"JA\">gives way <\/span><\/span>to abstract geometric ornamentation, playful <span lang=\"JA\"><span lang=\"JA\"><em>trompe-l\u2019oeil<\/em> and decors with <\/span><\/span><em><span lang=\"JA\"><span lang=\"JA\">papiers peints<\/span><\/span><\/em><span lang=\"JA\"><span lang=\"JA\">. <\/span><\/span>The notion of a clear-cut boundary between grandiose decoration and furnishing becomes blurred.
