In Eleonora Duse’s Room

Island of San Giorgio Maggiore
plus APR, 05 2012
As part of the events dedicated to the Elenora Duse’s Room, at 5.30 pm on 5 April 2012, the actress Maria Pia Colonnello will pay homage to the art of Eleonora Duse in a recital entitled Intrecci e analogie tra vita e teatro d’arte (“Crossovers and analogies between life and drama”).
The recital consists of readings from the letters of Eleonora Duse to her daughter and from the correspondence between the actress and Luigi Pirandello. In 1916 the great Italian playwright had written the play La vita che ti diedi  (“The Life I Gave You”) in the hope that Duse would take the lead part; the play was only staged for the first time in 1923 and Duse never performed in it.
