Deadline 30 August 2026

CALL FOR ARTICLES

Religiographies | Special Issue vol.7 no.1 (2028)
“The Architecture of Transnationalism: The Pioneers and the Formation of the Global Bahá’í Community”

Dedicated to the study of religious phenomena, Religiographies promotes interdisciplinary dialogue between history, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, and psychology. The journal, which is open-access and peer-reviewed, is curated by the Centre for Comparative Studies of Civilisations and Spiritualities of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini. For this special issue, the journal invites reflection on the Bahá’í Faith as a case study through which to explore the relationship between religion, globalisation, and the construction of transnational communities.

This special issue aims to investigate the Bahá’í Faith, a religious tradition that emerged from Shia Islam in Persia during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, a period marked by the growing influence of globalization on societies worldwide. Particular attention will be given to the ways in which the activities of Bahá’í pioneers enabled their tradition to transcend national borders, facilitating its projection onto the global stage and contributing to the formation of an “imagined community” that is simultaneously rooted in local contexts and profoundly transnational.
