Historical Studies Seminar

As usual, the annual Historical Studies Seminar, held by the Institute for the History of the Venetian State and Society, will consist of five round tables spread over two and a half days. This year’s seminar is entitled “Bones in search of saints, saints in search of bones”. In theory the discussion topics will not only be limited to relics of saints as such (e.g. those in the inventoried in the treasure of San Marco in St Mark’s cathedral) but may be broadened to take in the “sanctification” of sung and unsung heroes of the Risorgimento and post-Risorgimento as well as ossuaries and memorials erected after the First World War.
