International Conference// Europe, the Gulf and the Mediterranean.
At a crucial time in the history of international political and economic relations, this conference Eurogolfe brings to Venice experts on Europe and the Gulf states. The main objective is to analysis the elements of crisis connoting the problematic relations between these areas and to attempt to envisage and develop new fruitful forms of co-operation. By highlighting common cultural roots, the conference aims to map out a new region – embracing Europe, the Gulf and the so-called “Greater Mediterranean” – capable of playing a significant role in tomorrow’s global world.
The programme consists of three main sessions on the topics of: a) energy, the environment and investments with a view to designing shared sustainable development; b) the challenge of stability and joint political responsibilities; and c) exploring shared roots to construct a common culture. Each session will be accompanied by workshops exploring more specific themes, such as cultural co-operation, economics, energy and sustainable development, politics and local and international security.
The conference is the result of co-operation between the Giorgio Cini Foundation, the Eurogolfe network and the chair of the Middle East and the Mediterranean at the International Institute of Political Sciences, Paris.
