The Land without Memory
The Land without Memory, the section planned by anthropologist Maurizio Agamennone with director Luca Francesconi, will be presented during the 53rd International Festival of Contemporary Music, in Venice from 25 Septeber to 3 October 2009. Realised in collaboration with the Intercultural Institute of Comparative Music Studies of the Giorgio Cini Foundation and the Università Ca’ Foscari of Venice, The Land without Memory is set over four days, with the contributions to the discussion of Franco Fabbri, Umberto Fiori Paul Apolito, Vincenzo Caporaletti, Cecilia Pennacini, Luca Marconi, Nicola Scaldaferri, Michele Lomuto, Suguru Goto and Simha Arom, to which are added moments of live performance with, among others, Gamako, Jean Delaj with the Albanian çam polyphonic group and the Mascarimirì and Suoni rurali quartets.
With this idea the The Land without Memory segment of the Biennale’s 53rd International Festival of Contemporary Music offers some contributions for reflection, offered in the form of Lectio magistralis, on various issues tackled by specialists of international importance, followed by moments of live performance consistent and integrated with the reasons for reflection
