Handling, digitization and publication of books and documentary assets

 

2021 December 1, 3, 16, 17, 20 – 5 classes of 2 hours each, from 4.30 to 6.30 PM

 

The last thematic area of AOA – ARCHiVe Online Academy 2021 is dedicated to book and documentary assets, with a view to their proper manipulation both in the case of exhibition set-ups as well as during activities related to the digitization of assets.

 

The course will be held in Italian and will have free access. Lessons will be broadcast live on Zoom platform but can also be followed on the Youtube channel of the Foundation, through a reserved link: in both cases, registration is required (see form below).

Detailed programme:

 

Manipulation of documents and books documents for digitization and exhibition

The two classes will address the main issues related to the correct handling in an exhibition set-ups and throughout the digitization phase, with examples from recent experiences in the field.

Digital Libraries’ evolution and the application of IIIF protocol

By analyzing the peculiarities, the problems and opportunities of Digital Libraries will be given emphasis to different digitization projects based on the IIIF protocol (International Image Interoperability Framework).

   Field experiences and reflections on the aspects of communication: Anna Busa

 

Transmediation of the materiality of the book into the digital

  •    – 20 December

   The lesson will analyze several examples of digital reproductions; the focus will be on innovative technologies capable of giving back the physical and material aspects of the volumes, supporting remote codicological observations: Alberto Campagnolo.
