Numerous Fondazione Giorgio Cini art treasures will be on show in a major exhibition at the Hôtel de Caumont Centre d’Art, Aix-en-Provence, from 19 November. This is the first time in the history of the Venetian foundation that a large, varied selection of historic masterpieces from its Institute of Art History has travelled abroad. The show is also a way of marking the foundation’s 70th anniversary.
Curated by Luca Massimo Barbero, director of the Institute of Art History, in collaboration with architect Daniela Ferretti, Trésors de Venise. La collection Cini celebrates in Europe the collecting taste of Vittorio Cini, “the most Faustian Italian I have ever known”, as Bernard Berenson once said of him.
