Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice
plus MAY, 01 2022

One of the aims of ARCHiVe is to make the exploration of digital technologies and the resultant new forms of creativity a hallmark characterising one particular strand of its activities in the near future. After the autumn webinars on “Creativity and Artificial Intelligence” and “The Blockchain in Contemporary Art”, an exciting project involving the Teatro Verde has been scheduled for next spring.

New York-based, internationally renowned Italian artist Mattia Casalegno – in collaboration with award-winning electronic composer Maurizio Martusciello aka Martux_M – will use three-dimensional modelling and artificial intelligence to address the themes of the history, productions, and the present and future of the open-air theatre on San Giorgio, an architectural and landscape gem. The series of audiovisual works entitled The Time Mask, to be produced by Ennio Bianco, will be divided into four acts and aims to inject new life into one of the most fascinating theatres in Venice. The Teatro Verde has the potential to symbolise a forward-looking cultural regeneration, centred at the intersection between a growing interest in new forms of creativity linked to technological and scientific developments and an awareness of the need for environmental sustainability, part of the DNA of the fragile, magnificent city of Venice.
